How to reupholster a couch

Reupholstering furniture changes the look and increases its life, but include how to reupholster a couch. Many sofas are designed in a way that is easy to replace the fabric. Basic fabric cutting techniques and attention to detail are required for this project.

  1. Measure the couch from all angles and note the dimensions. Buy new fabric that matches the color scheme of the room and is strong enough to sustain daily wear.
  2. Remove the old fabric from the sofa. Make the filling, the frame and springs for damage. Tighten the springs if they seem loose. Reuse existing landfill if it is in good shape, otherwise, is covered with synthetic filler to set the base.
  3. Lay the new fabric on the floor and using a colored pencil to trace the cushion. Measure the length and width of the cushion and leave an extra inch before cutting the fabric. Similarly, measure all sides of the table once more and cut the fabric according to the dimensions obtained.
  4. Place the fabric on the frame of the couch with a staple gun. Perfectly sure on the couch in the same way the old cloth is fixed. Stretch the fabric gently to the opposite end. Stretch it to the point where there are no wrinkles, but do not pull too tight because the tissue is broken. First need the refill. Repeat the same procedure with all the pieces of fabric to the sofa, everything is covered.
  5. Sew pieces of fabric that are cut in the shape of the cushions. Use a sewing machine to make bags that fit perfectly into the cushions. Use a zipper at the mouth of the cover sheet so that it can be easily removed for quick cleaning.
